The Class Report for my 55th Harvard reunion
I have just finished reading my 55th reunion class report, with comments from whichever classmates wanted to contribute. The number of anti-Trump comments was extremely large. A fairly large number of classmates talked about different ways they were involved in political activism of one sort or another. There were virtually no politically conservative comments made, and the number of classmates who are or were in the finance world was relatively modest, I think a decade later that would’ve been very different. Contrary to the cliché that if you are not on the left at 20, you have no heart, and if you’re not on the right at 30, you have no brain, my classmates as a whole seemed to be politically pretty similar to what they were like 55 years ago, but nobody mentioned the 1969 Harvard strike or SDS, which was interesting to me. Those involved in that in those days seem to be erasing it.
A completely different observation, most, though not all of those writing, seem to be in quite good health, especially for people their mid 70s. There may be some self selection here with people in bad health, not participating or writing. Only a modest number of classmates have died.
