Flood victims “in heaven”
Fox has assured its viewers that the flood victims in Texas are, “now in heaven.” They also pointed out that the girls at the camp were “learning scripture.” One girl was able to escape with her bible.
Like Fox but unlike ABC, Swedish news tonight referred to the Texas camp where girls were killed by the floods as a “Christian summer camp.”
Chinese consumer goods in the West
An editorial in The Economist this week welcomes the emergence of consumer product firms from China in western markets, noting it increases the array of products available to consumers. This is in their best tradition of internationalism and rejecting protectionism or favoritism for internal producers.
Nvidia in Israel
Nvidia is setting up a new research operation in Israel, its largest outside of United States. Israel tech is still at the forefront.
Illegal immigrants working hard in Boston
The Boston Globe has a report today that takes up a full six pages of the first section of the paper on illegal immigrants in the Boston area. Very impressive piece of reporting. The immigrants are all working hard, doing work many native born don’t want to do, and helping our country.
Research by Harvard scholars outside Boston area
A front-page story in The Globe today reports on the cancellation of research projects being undertaken by Harvard researchers that are taking place far outside of Cambridge, around the country. It is disgusting enough that Trump wants to punish Harvard, but this collateral damage is terrible.
Prosecuting CNN?
Trump has said that, “maybe we’ll prosecute” CNN for “false reporting” on the Iran strike. DHS has threatened to prosecute the developer of an app that makes it easier easier for people to track the location of ICE agents preparing raids. The libertarian site, Reason, notes that it is unconstitutional to prosecute news outlets for reporting the news.
